Put your best foot forward with these expert tips for healthy and good-looking tootsies:
1. Wash—don’t soak—your feet. Soaking can dry your skin while washing softens the skin, preparing it for moisturizers.
2. Moisturize before bedtime. But skip the lotion between your toes as this could breed infection. For extra moisturizing slip your feet into socks after applying lotion.
3. Pumice corns and calluses. Cutting them can cause infection.
4. Trim nails straight across. Smooth edges with emery boards.
5. Go natural. When wearing shoes and socks—choose cotton, leather and canvas to allow your feet to breathe. Plastics and synthetic materials can chafe and blister your feet.
