Walking as a Mood Buster

Brisk walking for just 30 minutes a day can significantly reduce anxiety, stress and depression, says Temple University researcher Deborah Nelson, PhD. “It doesn’t require going to the gym,” Nelson says, or running “20 miles a week to reap the benefits.” Her recently published research shows that “if you stick to a moderate-paced walking schedule, it can keep your body mass index down and lower the risk of stress, anxiety and depression.”
