She may be cute but keep Fluffy on the floor to reduce allergens on your furniture.
Spring clean: Thorough cleaning on a routine basis can remove dust and mold that trigger allergy symptoms. Clean the windows, bookshelves, and air conditioning vents; wash your bedding weekly in hot water; and although you may love that fresh smell, do not hang it outside to dry.
Avoid pollen: Monitor your local news and keep your windows closed when pollen counts are high. When mowing or gardening, wear a filter mask and stay indoors for peak pollen times, typically from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M.
Strike first: Take allergy medications at least 30 minutes before going outdoors; talk with your health care provider about which medications are best at preventing allergic reactions.
Rinse allergens: Shower and wash your hair before bed to wash away any pollen that has collected on you during the day.
Down! with pets: Keep Fido and Fluffy off of your bed and furniture if they also go outside; their coats are pollen carriers.
Drive cool: During peak pollen season, keep your car windows closed and use your air conditioning and the “recirculation” option on your car to minimize pollen; always point the vents away from your face.
